The heart of Antiparos: Hora

Nestled on the island's northeastern shore, Hora serves as both the capital and port of Antiparos. This enchanting village captivates with its Cycladic charm, featuring dazzling whitewashed homes adorned with vibrant blue doors and windows framed by the vivid hues of purple bougainvillea. Scattered throughout are quaint chapels, adding to the picturesque ambiance. The historic Antiparos Castle is central to Hora, encircled by old fortifications and home to ancient churches, including Agios Antonios, Agios Ioannis, Agios Nikolaos, and Christos.

Sifneikos Gialos Beach

To the north of the island lies the stunning Sifneikos Gialos Beach, celebrated for its lengthy stretches of sand and clear emerald waters. A charming seaside tavern offers a taste of local flavors, while the beach itself is renowned for its breathtaking sunset vistas.

The Cave of Antiparos

On the hill of Agios Ioannis towards the northeast, the Cave of Antiparos emerges as a natural marvel, one of Europe's most ancient caves. It boasts a rich tapestry of stalactite and stalagmite formations and holds significant archaeological interest, evidenced by ancient inscriptions adorning its walls. Historically, it has served as a refuge and a place of worship.

Antiparos Castle

Located on the western edge of Hora, the Antiparos Castle stands as a classic example of Cycladic fortified settlements. Erected in the 15th century by Venetian Giovanni Lorentano, the castle's unique architecture features a cohesive block of houses surrounding a square courtyard, where a central tower once stood, all encased within the settlement's protective walls.

The Isle of Despotiko

Lying adjacent to Antiparos, the Isle of Despotiko is an archaeological gem. The island, once connected to the small islet of Tsimindiri, reveals its historical significance through the remnants of the Hestia Isthmia Goddess altar. Visitors can explore Despotiko via excursion boats departing from the Agios Georgios beach, adding a touch of adventure to their Antiparos experience.
